After Chi Cheng’s (R.I.P.) horrific car accident in 2008, the band’s project at the time, Eros was to be shelved until Cheng recovered. It’s been 5 years since the album has been worked on, but in light of Cheng’s death, lead vocalist Chino Moreno has stated that Eros “may finally see the light of day”. In an interview on May 11, 2013, when asked about releasing Eros, Moreno was quoted as responding “I think the chances are more so now than probably ever before”. He also stated that he recently listened to the record and feels it is “more appropriate” to release it now than it would have been over the last 5 years. In contrast to the band’s then-previous album Saturday Night Wrist, Eros is expected a much darker, heavier record.
